FirstLight × DailyPay

A corporate-enabled, multi-unit pilot motion built to earn a measured Tapcheck displacement case—not a broad franchise blast.

Prepared for ReedUpdated July 19, 2026Incumbent Tapcheck

The call

Start with a controlled proof point.

The structure matters more than opening with a generic daily-pay pitch.

Corporate endorsement → multi-unit pilot → evidence-backed rollout

FirstLight’s franchised model suggests split authority: corporate can enable or recommend, while operators manage local payroll and benefit implementation. Earn the comparison first, then make the replacement case with real results.

Don’t overclaim

Tapcheck has a FirstLight-branded landing page and some FirstLight offices market daily pay. That does not prove universal rollout, contract terms, adoption, satisfaction, or the payroll stack at any target.

Signal 01Existing daily-pay footprint

Treat this as a displacement discovery motion, not greenfield.

Signal 02Franchise-local variation

Caregiver benefits and daily pay vary by office.

Signal 03Multi-unit proof wins

One serious operator can establish a credible rollout case.

Who matters

Account map

Work the corporate control point while qualifying an operator with enough scale to create proof.

Chief Operating Officer

Mark Vanase

Operational owner for franchisee adoption, caregiver operations and implementation lift.

Ask: Who owns approved-vendor / caregiver-benefit decisions, and can one multi-unit owner pilot?

Chief Financial Officer

Ryan Zoellner

Economic, payroll change-control, risk and franchisee-ROI stakeholder.

Ask: What must a no-cost pilot prove for a recommended-vendor path?

President & CEO

Glee McAnanly

Executive sponsor for the franchisee-value narrative after operational proof exists.

Use: Escalate after COO / CFO motion—not as the first cold operational contact.

Chief Marketing Officer

Anne Mejia

Employer brand and recruiting-collateral stakeholder once operational fit is established.

Use: Bring in after fit; do not lead with a marketing story.

Where to prove it

Priority pilot targets

Start outside the crowded New Jersey motion with named operator scale and public performance signals.

Randall Group

SC / NC / TN / FL

Signal: 2025 Top Multi-Unit Territory winner. Fastest credible route to meaningful employee volume.

Field routeCharleston office → administrator / HR / payroll owner first.
(843) 212-2813

02

Fellows / Lamborne

Grand Rapids + Kalamazoo

Signal: 2025 Franchisee of the Year for quality, satisfaction and growth. Strong multi-office proof point.

Field routeGrand Rapids office → map the decision group.
(616) 328-6680

03

Jim Carteris

SF Peninsula

Signal: Top Single Territory award with high-cost caregiver-market logic.

Field routeQualify current coverage and payroll stack.
(650) 486-1310

04

Perry Ciambella

Buffalo / Cheektowaga

Signal: Highest hours-per-week award; a dense labor-hours retention test.

Field routeIdentify the local HR / payroll owner.
(716) 634-2273

How to move it

30 / 60 / 90 plan

Keep each phase deliberately narrow. Scale only after outcomes exist.

First 30 days

Qualify

  • Open corporate operations motion with Vanase / Zoellner.
  • Work Randall and Grand Rapids in parallel.
  • Map stack, coverage, incumbent, renewal and decision owner.
Days 31–60

Prove

  • Secure one multi-unit 90-day pilot.
  • Baseline hiring, retention, shift-fill and adoption.
  • Validate implementation, privacy and approved claims.
Days 61–90

Scale with receipts

  • Present outcomes to COO / CFO and operator.
  • Build a franchisee rollout kit if results justify it.
  • Expand only to similarly configured operators.

Rules of engagement

Field playbook

Three compact guides for preventing a vague or premature sales motion.

Don’t skip displacement discovery

Before sending pricing or asking anyone to “switch,” collect actual evidence on these six points:

  1. Decision rights: corporate, franchisee, payroll, HR or local administrator?
  2. Coverage: daily pay today; Tapcheck, another provider, or only marketing language?
  3. Stack: payroll, timekeeping, EVV, scheduling, pay frequency and worker mix.
  4. Contract: renewal, notice date, fees and who funds the program.
  5. Outcomes: enrollment, transfer frequency, hiring, turnover, unfilled shifts and tickets.
  6. Pain: adoption, data freshness, support, reporting, cost or integration?
Use the ADP route with discipline
  1. Give the DailyPay alliance / partner manager the Tier 1 operator names and legal entities.
  2. Ask for location-specific account-owner mapping only where policy permits.
  3. Provide a compact referral brief: operator, workforce thesis, pilot size, EWA status unknown and exact discovery ask.
  4. Activate a referral loop only after the local payroll stack is confirmed.
Guardrail: There is no evidence a single ADP rep “mainly closes FirstLight.” Account ownership is likely location / employer specific.
Define success before enablement

A pilot is only worth running when the operator agrees to measure applicant conversion, 30/60/90-day retention, attendance / unfilled shifts, adoption and caregiver feedback against a pre-launch baseline.

Do not broaden the roll-out just because a stakeholder likes the idea. Present receipts to corporate and the operator first.

Select the role, then copy a concise message anchored to the actual discovery ask.

To: COO / finance routeSubject: FirstLight caregiver retention: a controlled daily-pay pilot

Mark — I’m reaching out because FirstLight’s model gives franchisees local flexibility, while corporate still has to protect operational consistency and caregiver experience. I noticed FirstLight publicly describes daily-pay availability as varying by office. Rather than pitch a systemwide rip-and-replace, I’d like to understand whether there is an approved-vendor path and identify one multi-unit operator where we can measure caregiver adoption, hiring and retention with minimal payroll burden. Is there a 20-minute route through you or the owner of franchise operations to validate decision rights and nominate a pilot?

Use after validating messaging / claims approval.
